Financial Responsibilities
The DSCB program provides stipend and tuition/fee support for all students during their first two years of study, and as much of the third year as our budgetary resources allow. The level of third-year funding will depend on available sources of student support, and is subject to annual review. Once DSCB funding ends, financial responsibility shifts to the thesis advisor, who is expected to provide both stipend and tuition/fee support until the student graduates. The current stipend for 2019-20 is $40,000. Starting Sept. 1, 2020, this will increase to $41,200. Tuition and fees information can be found here on the Registrar's Website. All non-international students will be charged at the ‘California Resident’ rate. Please let Demian know if you have any questions, but rest assured he will walk you through the process when the time comes.
We would like to draw your attention to this page on the DSCB website. This contains information and links for applying for extramural funding, and we hope you find it helpful. Extramural funding secured by students during their second or third year is extremely helpful in allowing DSCB funding sources to stretch farther, thus allowing these sources to cover as much of the third year class as possible.
