Check in with the DSCB Program Administrators in room HSE-1285 (Health Science East building)
To get to HSE go to the Medical Sciences building (513 Parnassus), take the elevators up to the 12th floor, turn left, and it’s at the very end of the hall. The DSCB office is open from about 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Make an appointment with Demian before mid-September. We also have computers you can use to check email, look for apartments, pull papers, etc.
Get your ID
You will need your student ID badge to gain access to the Mission Bay buildings, gym, library, student computer areas, etc. When you arrive, we will give you authorization to have your ID badges made and instructions to help you schedule an appointment.
After you have scheduled an appointment, you’ll go to the Parnassus UCSF Police Department, Millberry Union, P7, Room 18 (P level of the Millberry Union, west side). You will need to show another form of state or government issued ID such as a driver’s license or passport or US Military identification.
Meet With Your Advisor
Graduate advisor assignments are made the summer before your arrival, and will be distributed in August to help you prepare. This information will also be included with your orientation packet that you receive early September. You may directly receive an e-mail from your advisor, but please set up an appointment to talk with your advisor once you are on campus. You should discuss what classes you plan to take and rotations you are considering before making the final decision. This is also a good time to meet professors and choose a rotation for the fall.
